"I’m back in the saddle again…I’m Back!"
Updated: Mar 3
Good song, good song, it's by Aerosmith. I don’t know exactly what it’s about but I also don’t care to know, I just like listening to it. Well I made it back to Miami, barely, I got lost getting to the airport in Japan and I really just barely made the flight. You have to take the train everywhere man, it was such a drag ‘cause I kept getting lost in all of the stations. Luckily I did make it and so I’m back home now, and I really missed my plants and my books and my stuff and whatnot. Even the unfriendly people at the grocery store I missed, aw man those cashier ladies are mean man! So mean, but anyway Japan was awesome obvi.
I stayed in several places in and around Tokyo within the two weeks I was there. My favorite place was Shinjuku though, people there were so so friendly and so curious about me, and idk something about Shinjuku you know. I don’t know I just liked it, but everywhere was nice. I went to Harajuku, Asakusa, Ikebukuro, 🤔 hmm where else. I can’t remember now...
Oh! I went to Shibuya, and Roppongi, and Akihabara as well. I didn’t like Akihabara at all though, it was full of pervy stores and pervy ppl. Normally that wouldn’t bother me at all, but this type of pervy stuff I didn’t really understand so I felt a little out of place I guess. I initially went to Akihabara because I was looking for a specific Takeshi Kitano film, and so I saw that there were a lot of DVD stores there. These are not regular DVD stores though, so I found out the hard way. I didn’t think anybody watched porn on DVD anymore 'cause you can get it on your computer, but you know maybe it’s not allowed over there? Perhaps the websites are blocked or something. I didn’t test it out unfortunately so I don’t know.
Well whatever, I was happy to meet with my friend over there a few times and I even made new acquaintances. I met this lady and her family and she was like “you’re great” and I was like “aw no you’re great” and back and forth you know. She showed me around Tokyo for a few days and even invited me over to her home for dinner and she made me some okonomiyaki. Then the next day she invited me over for lunch and made me takoyaki 😭😭😭 and it was so gooooooood! The weather in Japan though was extreme, it was extremely hot and extremely humid as well. I kept thinking how much more unbearable it was from Miami, and the basketball team here is called The Heat. Well they’re just joking I guess because it was so much hotter in Japan, and it was a sticky hot too. I just felt sticky always. Hmm not a good feeling.
Ah Shinjuku, I miss you, but we cannot be! You’re just - no, we’re just too different. I hope that we can meet again someday.
